The W1317 exciter ring (also called a tone or reluctor ring) is a stamped steel ring used in ABS systems to provide a magnetic pulse signal to wheel speed sensors. As the wheel rotates, the ring’s tooth pattern passes by the sensor, enabling the ABS controller to measure rotation rate and detect potential wheel lock.
